Bowties or Bows Gender reveal party

Hey everyone so I was honored that my best friend wanted me to plan her Gender Reveal Party. I have been the only mommy in our group of friends and I'm so excited for her to join the Mommy Club.  We have a pretty great group of girlfriends and one thing that makes us so great is that we will do ANYTHING for each other.  We always go all out for each other's birthdays, weddings, etc.  I was so excited she picked me to take charge.  I'm not really a demanding person so I looked to Pinterest to help give everyone an idea of what we could do.  I'm OBSESSED with Pinterest.  There were some things however that I came up with on my one or figured out on my own.  The first is the chalkboards.  I LOVE the chalkboards at parties but I didn't want to pay for one already made I wanted to make a cheap one.  I found frames at Michaels for buy 1 get one FREE and one was $39.95.  Then I had never used chalkboard paint before so I wasn't really sure about what could work as the actual board.  I decided to go for a foam board.  The chalkboard paint that I used was the spray paint (all that Michaels carried).  The directions said that you had to spray it in a 60-80 degree room.  I'm living at my parents right now and we are bursting at the seams! There was NO room at all!   So I took it out side put both boards up against a tree and sprayed away.  The tree was small enough I didn't get it on the tree.  The spray paint is messy!
I let it dry for 24 hours and was so worried about if it would work.  And it did!! When it was dry I hot glued the foam board onto the frame and I had my own home made chalkboard!
The next I ordered these really really cute straws off of ETSY
Then at Walmart I did buy 1 chalkboard for $10

And it WAS raining so the chalk was a little smudged on everything.
Then I loved the idea I found on Pinterest of Late Night Diapers.  It's so cool it's little pick-me-ups for new parents when they haven't had much sleep and they are changing diapers in the middle of the night.  I changed it a lot from what I found on Pinterest.  I found the cute font at dafont.com, printed it out, and put it inside of a cute frame I already had.
My mom left them this one ^^^^ lol

Last the now ties and bows.  I just took an old frame and taped ribbon from the top to the bottom on the back of the frame.  Then I hot glued the bows and bow ties on clothes pins.  I have a how-to on how to cut out and make the paper bows on another post.  But these turned out so cute!

The cake I got from Brookshires Bakery and the Team Boy Team Girl fingers I ordered off of ETSY!  I hope y'all enjoyed! And good luck to anyone planning their own Gender Reveal!

Louisiana Saturday Night

So life isn't always smooth.  There are a million things that can surprise and ruin the most perfect day.  But, one thing I love about my life is I have been blessed enough to have so many different people who in their own different and special way teach me, support me, and love me when I need it.  God has his hands on me and when I feel helpless I need to remember he is in control.  He has a plan for me and my life.  I fail him everyday but he is constantly there.  As hard as it gets I couldn't make it through anything if it weren't for the people in my life.  Thats what Im thinking about as I sit here tonight on this perfect Saturday night.

Now, I'm a city girl.  I love people, the noise of cars, everything being so close, I loooove the city.  But I'm dating a man who has spent his whole life in the COUNTRY.  Fishing, hunting, the manliest of the manly.  I've been with him for a year and today I was left alone with a fishing pole that began to wiggle and shake.  Clueless I looked around to find no one.  It was up to me to handle this beast of a fish no longer than 8 inches ;).  But ladies and gentlemen I DID IT.  I wrapped that sucker with a rag, apologized numerous times for how long it took this amateur to pull the hook out of his mouth, and tossed it into the Live Well a hero.  I just beat a level in Fishing and it feels AWESOME.  Who knows I maybe cleaning my very own deer soon. Yeah just kidding, I don't think my stomach could handle that!  But it's things like that, that help me get through days like this.  I caught a fish so I'm pretty awesome.  If anyone disagrees then you have a sad life :-p.  But my friends can't imagine me ever moving here, but is it possible to be a city girl and love the city but still love the peacefulness of space? Beautiful water, hills, and sky?  It's true I don't know how to use the gas pump at the only station in town but I think that there is something great about being out here.  I see how easy it is for people here to be at peace and have calm in their lives.  Everything slows down and quiets.  There is a feeling here that I don't get in the city.  Who knows maybe I could be out here in the coming years.  Only time will tell :)

How to make a paper bow for Bowties or Bows Gender Reveal Party

Good Morning,

Im Lindsey, and my blog has been up for a few years now, but I could never really figure out what about my life was interesting enough to write about.  I dont have my dream career and I hate to say Ive put school on hold until I can make enough room for it in my schedule.  I pretty much just find myself working Monday through Friday 8-5 with the rest of my daily energy devoted to my 5 year old.

I think I have it in me to be the woman that balances School, Career, and Motherhood.  Its just right now I would be the one that balances expensive babysitting and book fees, low-paying job, and single motherhood.  Not so appealing.  Plus, I want to be involved as much as I can in my daughters activities.

I believe it is so important to try new things and put yourself out there.  You learn so much about yourself and other people and your perspective on others changes and you grow to understand and respect more and more.  Im spoiled and shy, with my little bitty bubble, I have grown to become socially awkward.

I have wrapped myself up in my own life most of my life and now  I just want out.  I love the idea of saying Ive done that!  So my goal is trying new things, meeting new people, committing to something new and finishing it.  No one is perfect and there are no perfect parents.  I was not a kid person before Molly and sometimes I just dont know how to handle situations.

Ill be honest her homework sometimes confuses and frustrates me, already, and we are just in Kindergarten.  I cant understand how we read a word one night and the next its like I put Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious on the paper and asked her to read it.  Its frustrating, but that is exactly why I am not a kindergarten teacher.

I have the upmost respect for kindergarten teachers.  But because I dont have 10 years of 20 different Kindergartners each year, Im not exactly sure what is normal or what is expected at a certain time.

Patience is something to work on and Im working on myself every single day, so for inexperienced or clueless moms Im lucky they have all of these easy ways that I can be involved in extra activities.  Im not just putting myself in activities for her; Im taking on new challenges for me personally.  Im accepting challenges and Im learning.

I want my awkward bubble to burst.  I want experience.  I want to be happy.  I want to be the best I can be.  This leads me to my blog  This is something Ive wanted to do for a while.  I dont really have a set topic.  Just different things that I do with my time.  Different experiences and advice little things to big things.  Random things you probably dont care to read about and possibly the best most incredible thing on the internet

Im planning my best friends Gender Reveal Party this Friday.  The theme is Bowties or Bows.  Seriously the cutest thing ever.  Weve gotten our supplies at so many different places and done some pretty neat things on a tight budget.
Just going to share with you how we did these things.

The first are the bow and bowtie pins for everyone to wear once they cast their vote

The first are the bow and bowtie pins for everyone to wear once they cast their vote

We were up doing this at 1 in the morning so we were extremely tired and wanted something simple and easy.

I really didnt care if my lines were straight and to me it looked better that way.  Or at least the same.

Step 1.

On ANY piece of draw ANY size hourglass shape.

Step 2.

Cut out the shape and fold each side over towards the center to create

Step 3.

Staple the two flaps at the center to create the bow.  Then get a ribbon and wrap around the center covering the staple then tie it to the back.

(This was an impromptu bow that I made at work and all that I had was a pink rubber band)

Step 4.

We were gluing these to clothespins and we just hot-glued the bow on the back and stuck it on

Good to go quick and breezy

This is everything we made the other night and Ill post how tos on those as well.

But the bows are on the right side.

Check them out
